- - - - The research phase provided an in-depth look at many complex ideas and processes, but there were definitely key points that stuck out. For example, with physical pain, it is so important to understand that there is so much more to your pain than what you are experiencing physically. A painful experience is a complex melting pot of your biological, psychological, social, and neurological states. For this reason, a holistic approach to the recovery process is highly effective. Another key point is that everyone experiences physical pain differently. When noxious signals reach the brain, the perception process begins, initiating the creation of a completely unique pain perception. These ideas, along with many others, laid a foundation for production.
- - - - A challenge that I encountered during the research phase became balancing the depth of research with the amount of content that I wanted to cover. Each subtopic that I outlined during the proposal phase could have been projects in themselves, but I felt that to gain a holistic perspective, each topic was necessary. To maintain the level of depth that was expected, I prioritized the quality of my sources and set aside time to simply process information. Reflecting on that part of the project, I can confidently say that all of my sub-topics were covered at a depth I am proud of.
    - - Time
        
        During the proposal phase, a whole nine months to complete all of the phases of the project process seemed like an extensive amount of time, but when broken down, it no longer seemed as lengthy. I don't think that I realized how much time was needed to develop a fully functioning app. The commitment both my dad and I had to make was greater than expected and definitely presented itself as one of the more prominent challenges that I faced throughout the project.
      - Concept
        
        Looking back, creating a plan for what I wanted the focus of the app to be was one of the challenges that I encountered. It really was a matter of accepting that for this process to be valuable and fulfilling for me, there needed to be unique aspects to it, not something that had been done before. Going from one solid plan, through a state of temporary disarray, to a completely different plan, was something that I had to learn to accept.
  - - - Physical pain is a topic that everyone can relate to, but what I wanted to do through this project was not only elevate but also flip current perceptions. This meant that I needed to convey complex ideas in a way that was understandable, but yet not diluted. Providing visuals created in Google Drawing and visualization techniques which revolve around a commonly understood experience proved to convey consumable information. I believe that through my presentation and the rest of the production phase, I have been successful in providing clarity.
    - - I have created many online programs prior to this year, but never an app. Coding and app development is not something I am familiar with at all, which added a whole new challenge to the production process. With many new things, challenges are inevitably attached, but its the process of overcoming those challenges that adds value to the new experience. So yes, app development was completely new territory, but I am so glad that I challenged myself, as it has had many more benefits than downsides.
    - - I prioritized (consciously and unconsciously) experiential learning throughout my senior project. The live sources that I met with provided a direct connection to pain management, perception, and psychological influences, which led to countless first hand experiences. Additionally, though out of my control, the experiences I have been able to take advantage of because of my own lower back pain have been extremely insightful. It is one thing to know and understand pain down to the smallest neuron, but something completely different to experience it firsthand.
    - - There was no greater relief than that which came after my senior presentation. I feel as though my delivery was solid and I hope that the message came across clearly and in a way which changed perspectives. I have struggled in the past with taking time to slow down and focus on dictation, but I believe that my speech was clear, slow, and easy to understand. I also feel as though the question and answer session was successful. I am really proud of and satisfied with the delivery as a whole.
