Students with Speech Impediments have difficulty with understanding or following directions, difficulty reading, writing or speaking aloud in class. They may attend speech-language therapy to help with their impediment.Students might make use of both Low-Tech and High-Tech AAC's or "Augmentative Alternative Communication". Anything that does not require any batteries and are usually as simple pen and paper or a board to communicate with students. High-tech AAC's include items which typically require batteries, including computer software, smartphone apps, specialized devices, electronic communication boards, and keyboards. There are also speech generation devices.
