A band
:DArk stop in the middle of the Myosin filaments
I band:
Strip of Actin filaments in Z line.

Sliding Filament theory of muscle contraction
:
Power Stroke
: Myosin head releases ADP,dragging Actin to m line.
Cross Bridge Detachment:
ATP binds to Myosin ,breaking actin link.
Cross Bridge formation:
Mysion Binds to actin Binding
Cocking of Myosin Head:
ATP turns into ADP
Major functions of muscular system:
Stabilize joints:
Maintain Body Position & Posture:
Produce movement
:Responsible for all locomotion and manipulation.
Generate Heat
:
Muscle Coverings:
Epimysium:
Connective tissue that encloses entire muscle.
Endomysium:
Connective tissue that covers indivual muscle cells.
Perimysium:
Collagean tissue wraps around groups of muscle fibers.
3 types of muscles & their functions:
Cardiac:
Is only found in our heart, It is very specific tissue and is very sterdy.
Smooth:
Smooth muscle transports liquid in our body and also plays a role in protection.
Skeletal
:Is also a very specific tissue only found in our bones.
Nueromuscular Junction:
:is the process of when an electrical signal from the nervous system is sent to our muscles to trigger movement by muscle contracting
Synaptic Cleft:
Gap between nuron and muscle
Motor End Plate:
Pocket region that contain Ach receptors.
Axon Terminal:
ending tip of motor neuron
Ach:
Found in synaptic cleft, breaks down stop signal transmission and allows for muscle relaxation.
Action potential in a muscle fibers:
Converts chemical signal into a mechanical force. It starts at the mother end plate, when ACH channels open, gerating and electrical wave that spreads throughout the whole cell.Goes into the T-tubules of the cell where depolarization occures.Calcium ions bounds to expose binding site.
