TOPIC: Products and Processes (Wheat-flour, Maize Kernels- Maize meal) -…

- - - - Activity: Learners can observe and describe the two raw materials (Maize kernels ad Wheat) using their senses and draw them.
  - - - Activity: Learners will physicall compare the two different raw materials and find similarities and differences, their shapes, sizes and textures.
- - - - Activity: Learners will be given a paper with different tools of machines and they have to circle the ones they think are suitable for crushing or grinding maize kernels and wheat.
  - - - Activity: Learners will have to compare the differences in the steps of grinding wheat and grinding maize kernels e.g. they dried out the wheat completely before crushing it but they didn't completely dry out maize kernels before crushing them.
- - - - Content Research: Wheat and maize kernels were dried up first, the people used stones to crush the wheat and maize kernels using a mechanical friction method where they would grind the maize kernels or wheat placed on a big stone while using another stone to grind it with their hands. (GoodMills, 2020).

Activity: Storytime, learners will listen to a story about how our forefathers used to crush wheat to turn it into flour for baking and maize kernels into maize meals and then do a hands-on activity where they will also practice grinding the raw materials with stones to turn it into powder.
  - - - Content Research: Maize kernels grows during the summer season and are harvested throuh late summer or autumn. (Creux, N., du Tout, D.,Mathobisa, T., Ceronio, G. 2022)
Wheat can grow in two distinct seasons, either in spring or winter depending on when the seed is planted and when it germinates. (EOS DATA ANALYTICS, 2026).

Activity: The learners will discuss in groups about which raw material grows in which seasons and why think so.
