Unit not according OSHA - Coggle Diagram
Unit not according OSHA
Design according IEC 60204-1. only power components according UL
assumed that local approval was good enough
AHJ "local electrical inspector"
Limited to NEC (NFPA70)
Units has been used like this for at least 6years
Normal operation
AHJ inspector has to notice missing NRTL lable to OSHA
OSHA cites client
after incident
OSHA can cite client = easy, becaus no NRTL label on unit so no discussion
law suit against Atlas copco: arguments are weak, no NRTL label on unit.
since we now will continue knowlingly, this could make things worse in court
commercial risk
Rental just notices, pressure for investigation tends to grow now
OSHA says that unit needs to be "approved"
"approved" can only be via recognized insecotr, this is not a local inspector
"field evaluated by an OSHA recognized test lab"
field evaluation needs to be done every time....
NRTL (UL, CSA, Intertek, SGS,...)
What can we do via CSA approval??
inspector will look at NFPA 79, UL508a, NFPA70
Local approval value to OSHA = none. "a non-NRTL inspector cannot make it acceptable"
