Family Influence
Respect - We were raised to respect to our elderly and as a child, we are not allowed to speak up, we should only listen to adults.
Hard work - Growing up in an Asian household, we were encouraged to contribute to household chores and early child-labor
Humility - Respecting others, especially elders, valuing community, and staying open to learning from others.
Cultural expectations - you are expected to help, respect adults and follow the rules even if its uncomfortable
Relationships with elders - I grow up in an extended family and has kept a good relationship and support with my parents' relatives
Professional confidence - I grew in a place where we're allowed to explore our environment such as climbing trees, mountains etc without any adults with us. This experience has helped me build confidence and trust my abilities

Migration/moving countries - It still a culture shock for me how children are raised in Australia and taking note carefully of what I need to know to child's rearing
Career transitions - Moving from adult learning to early childhood education requires enough knowledge and experience to support the children holistically
Entering early childhood education - This for me is an ongoing learning experience, there's is so much to learn it's not just looking after the children it is also about knowing the right approach to make the learning/play effective and targeted
-
Developing reflective practice - The placements help me understand and apply the learning theories into practical practice.
