The reason for no difference in female and male journalists coveraged is due to managment and editorial bureaucracy
2. There are no radical change in the news coverage when female journalists are parts of the managerial team or are the editore in chief
A. (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.393): the mix of topics that the newspapers coverd changed little acorss time for both group of publications (female vs. male led)
B. but the types of articles changed for the paper at which women became managing editors. the emphasis on features approaches to the news increased, and standard hard news declined. (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.393)
C. in their reserch (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.399): in general the topic mix for both groups of papers was relatively stable across time, so no support was found for either hypothesis
D. their research only found a slight increases in coverage of consumerism/fashion and in minority issues (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.400). Coverage of business and politics./ govern, ental and national security dipped slight at the women led treatment newspapwer while increasing at the men lef papers but it is not even signigicantly not relevant
E. there were also no difference of change when it comes to the pictures chosen by the journalsits in both cases of news paper led: (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.401)
F. The only thing that changed is the type of article published: in the women led treatment newsroom indirect leads, which indicate features or news features became more common over time and direct leads which indicate hard news article became less common
G. Small entities more changed and agencies when female led: after women succeeded men as editors of these small dailies the newspaper published more features or news features. features and news features ofen have qualities to be hallmark of feminised coverage they typically go beyond just the fact account of news ofteh they tell personal stories provide context about events issues and embrace narratives that emphasize the possitive
1. feminsit epistemologic researchers argue that if women were better represented particualrly in senior level jobs they would have more influence over news decision making and the conseuqences would be content that better served the needs and interests of women (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.393) + in some feminist theories women and men view the wolrd through different social lenses (cultural feminst) (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.394)
A. one of their key themes is that news organisation are masculine domnated instution that promote occupational practices and custom that best suit men. (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.395)
B. researcher found that female journalist embraced different ethical values than men (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.395)
C. men are hiding behind the idea of objectivty to exlcude all compassion and humanity that one should bring to journalism (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.395)
D. there is a macho nature in the newsroom (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.395)
E. the problem after the result were shown not statistically significant might be due to the powerful soicalisation of journalsits regardless of gender to favor coverage so called masculine topics like buisness and politics over so called feminst topic like family life or women health (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.403)
3. if there are no so much change is because the differences are internlised by the reporters and editor in chief regardless of their gender
the resul of this male dominated culture is that women must undergo "male socialisation" (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.395)
dowmplaying what they charactrized as more "female concerns" such as people emotional lives and threating public and private life as separate domains (Randal A. Beam and Damon T. Di Cicco, p.395)
Hypotheses
A. the senior leader organisation can influence of organisations. this assumption is documented in research on organisational culture and leadership (leaders can affect the value or prioritise of a subject/matter)
B. the opportunity for senior leaders to reshape the culture of an organisation is greated in small organisation than large organisations
