DESIGN CONTEXTUAL CHALLENGES
Using recycable, and reusable materials such as wood.
Materials need to be recyclable because:
.Waste materials are pyling up in landfills
.The materials are bad for the environment
.Less waste allows for cheaper products
.there's a finite amount of materials.
Existing solutions are that using
materials like wood or other natural
materials allows for recycling. This is better than creating waste through
unrecycable materials like polymers which are bad for the environment and
less energy efficient for dissposal
Potential difficulties are that wood is expensive when
its very good quality. So I will have to find cheaper
alternatives that keep a good quality and properties.
I also need to find localy sourced materials perferably
as its cheaper and more ethical.
Potential clients may enjoy the wooden aspect
as many bits of furniture are made of wood.
This is helpful towards matching there aesthetics and
looking good in there home.
Movements: STREAMLINE
.Has a simple design with minimal patterns
.uses colours and shapes to add character
.Straight lines are the main future making it look modern
Movements: ART DECO
.Uses minimalistic patterns
.Uses minimal colours using mostly earthy browns
.Used on furniture and buildings
Current Idea is using wood for my product.
My product is going to be themed around golf and
will store items like the bag and other equipmnet.
Brand influence: G-Plan
.I like the dark brown colours
.I like the simple designs
.I like the straight fine shapes with minimal
curves and abstract shapes.
How can smell and colour
improve our mood
Already in products, manufacturers use colour
to brighten up the mood and there product. The brighter
colours make the aesthetic of the product more uplifting.
This encourages people to buy it and can have a huge target audience.
But kids in particular want brighter colours.
MOVEMENT: ART DECO
In art deco they use dark brown and earthy
colours. This brings a sense of calming atmosphere
and can help towards reducing stress. This improves our mood.
MOVEMENT: STREAMLINE
They use a wide rage of colours. There patterns are smooth
and simple which can help to reduce anxiety. Also I feel that when they use
brighter colours such as blues it looks nicer.
BRAND INFLUENCE: IKEA
Ikea use more brighter colours which
help to create a brighter atmosphere. Also there
products are targeted at children so they are a good
example of a product that aims to do this movement.
Potential clients with this design movement
are mostly aimed at younger people. This is due to
children more likely to want bright colours were as adults may
look for a more clean and slick looking design.
SME: Colours can improve mood. But also they
must be sourced from ethical locations. Certain colours within paint are very limited
and only available from specific locations around the world. So sourcing local product is better for the environment.
For my product I feel that I can add
colour to improve mood by paining the extirior.
Ths can bet done using bright colours or I could use
calming ones. This would also allow for a protective outer coating.
Difficulties I might have are:
.Paint can be expensive
.materials might not paint well
.Paint might e hard to source
The elderly are often very lonely and afraid to go outside
Already existing solutions are that
the elderly are taking to communal clubs to socialise.
It helps the m to make freinds. Theres also online things
like games were they can do it aswell.
MOVEMENT: ARTS AND CRAFTS
Older people love to do things like knit
and do arts and crafts. This suggests they may like this movement
and would like to buy product in this design.
