Structure: Fixed classrooms, strict rules, and a lot of homework.
Wednesday: Short day (free in the afternoon).
Long days: School from around 8:30 until 15:30 or 16:30.

Hobbies: Extreme focus on outdoor sports. Almost every 13-14 year old goes skiing in winter and hiking in the mountains during spring and summer.
Transport: Many walking or cycling paths, or dedicated school buses.

Hobbies: Youth clubs (Chiro, KSA), local sports teams (football, youth club gymnastics), or gaming at home.
Teenagers go to school by bicycle, by bus (De Lijn), or parents drop them off.
Language & Friends

Great English: Slovenian teenagers learn English very early and watch television without subtitles, so most 13-14 year olds speak excellent English.
They speak Slovenian (Slovenščina).

You start learning French and English at school.
You speak Dutch with friends.
Holidays (School Vacations)

More mini-breaks: You get 1 or 2 weeks off during Autumn, Christmas, Carnival, and Easter.
• Summer break: 9 weeks off (always July and August).

Fewer winter breaks: They don't have as many short holidays during the school year like you do in Belgium
Longer summer break: They get 10 weeks of summer vacation (they finish school in late June).
The Weather

Snow sports: Because of the heavy snow, schools often organize mandatory skiing trips for the whole class!
Real seasons: Very hot, sunny summers (great for swimming in lakes) and very cold winters with lots of real snow.

Soft winters: It rarely snows, and when it snows, the snow melts almost immediately.
Lots of rain: The weather changes very quickly. It is often cloudy, grey, and rainy.
