This case study demonstrates that large-scale chemical manufacturing can create serious environmental threats and health hazards when not adequately managed. The chemical industries in southern Tehran experience significant risks related to air, water, and soil pollution, alongside occupational health and safety challenges. These issues directly affect workers, surrounding communities, and natural ecosystems.
Through improved environmental controls, stronger regulatory enforcement, enhanced worker safety measures, and systematic risk management, many of these hazards can be significantly reduced. This case highlights the importance of integrating environmental protection and human health considerations into chemical industry operations. Ultimately, sustainable chemical manufacturing is essential for minimizing environmental degradation and protecting public health while supporting industrial development.
