Brain Lateralization

Left & Right, some functions are different, motor/sensory functions are contralateral (each hemisphere controls the opposite side of the body)

Left controls language, analytic thought, and logic
Right controls spatial relations, facial recognition, emotional perception, intuitive thought, musical ability
Frontal Lobe

Executive function, Planning, Risk-taking, creativity, Personality, Motor movement

Broca's aphasia: language disorder, difficulty producing spoken (sometimes written) language
Parietal lobe

Perception, pain, integration or sensory input. Includes the primary somatosensory cortex

Prosopagnosia (difficulty recognizing faces), Hemi spatial neglect (most commonly a result of damage to the right parietal cortex), loss of conscious perception of the left visual field, issue of attention and not vision
Temporal lobe

Memory, Hearing, Language Comphrension. Includes, primary auditory cortex, Wernicke's area (left hemisphere)

Wernicke's aphasia (difficulty understanding spoken language), speech may become distorted
Occipital lobe

Vision, color, perception, includes the primary visual cortex

Impaired visual recognition, blindness
