What we get from plants (DBE,2011:57)
Key concept: Plants provide raw materials like sugarcane that can be turned into sugar (Solomon, 2016:pp104-105)
Learners will learn that the sugar that comes from sugarcane is the same sugar that they use every day. They will conduct a sugar dissolving experiment by testing sugar in warm vs. cold water, observe which dissolves faster, and record the results where the teacher will have an entire discussion.

Process - from sugar cane to sugar (DBE, 2011:57)
Key concept: Sugar cane can be changed through processes into sugar (Solomon, 2016: pp104-105).
The learners will be asked to follow the teacher and create a process chart showing sugarcane → the crushing stage →how it boils → crystals.
Process - from clay to brick (DBE, 2011:57)
Key concept: Clay can go through a process to change into brick (Haynes, 2019: pp40-60)
Learners will shape small clay/mud into brick forms, leave them to dry in the sun, and compare the strength with ordinary soil lumps.
