In Lean, there are different concepts. Lean Six Sigma combines Lean's focus on eliminating waste with Six Sigma's focus on reducing defects. There is also waste (muda) and other defects (that can increase costs).
Seven Muda
Overproduction
Producing too early, too fast, or in greater quantity than needed.
Correction
Fixing or reworking work because of errors or defects. This can be helped by addressing the root cause and preventing errors.
Inventory
Materials or inputs that pile up before they are needed (bottlenecks)
Typically avoid batches. Or create smaller batch sizes to reduce inventory.

Two Types of Muda
Type I Muda
Non-value-added tasks that may still be essential or required.
Make them as efficient and cost-effective as possible.
Type II Muda
Non-value-added tasks that are not essential and can be immediately removed.
Ex. Unnecessary movement between workstations.
