It is also concerned with how in-depth the research is, as in-depth information tends to be more truthful and therefore more valid.
Participant observation and unstructured interviews tend to be the most valid because they gain in-depth information, and they tend to show the reality of social life.
However, if there is potential for participants to lie, validity declines.

Is said to accurately represent the research population in terms of, for example age, gender, ethnicity etc.
