Democracy
Definition: People have political power, usually by voting.

Example: Citizens vote yes or no on a new law themselves.
Country example: Switzerland uses many direct-democracy votes.
Representative Democracy
Example: Citizens elect people to represent them in the government.
Country example: The United States uses representative democracy.

Example: The government stops working, and there is no one to control the country or enforce laws.

Monarchy
Definition: A government in which a king or queen is the ruler.How they become ruler: Usually, the position is passed down through the royal family.
