Urbanisation and Megacities (5 Weeks) - Coggle Diagram
Urbanisation and Megacities (5 Weeks)
Historical shifts in population (4 Lessons)
Aim: To identify the temporal pattern of urbanisation. Success criteria SWBAT use data to identify a trend (graphing) SWBAT look at the factors influencing this trend (Inquiry task) SWBAT consider the consequences of this trend Source data
https://ourworldindata.org/urbanization
Activities Using the data table in the source, produce a graph that shows the trend 1950-2022 (use only the continental data) Ask the why there? questions continents with largest growth Choose a city in Asia, locate it on a map using google mymaps and then include the graph showing the growth over the period and be able to make a comparison with a city in the region (Same/different) and a city outside the regions (Say Europe/N America) Writer a peel paragraph explaining their findings.

Spatial distribution (4 Lessons)
Aim:
**What is where
? Success criteria:
SWBAT
to map the distribution of mega cities globally. They can identify the temporal pattern (growth over time)
SWBAT
to understand the challenges for megacities in the developing world Task

Drivers of urbanisations (push and full factors, LEDC, MEDC) (4 Lessons)
Rise of megacities (site factors and situation factors, industrial growth) (4 Lessons)
Source
Aims To look at the factors that have influenced the rise of megacities Success criteria SWBAT To consider how access how megacities use natural features to stimulate growth.
SWBAT will consider the environmental implications of urban environments (
Green cities
)
