Cell&Tissue Physiology, Membrane Potential - Coggle Diagram
Cell&Tissue Physiology
What is tissue?
Tissue is the collection of cells that are similar, all grouped together on structure and function.
-
Membrane Potential
-
Phospholipids
Phoshoglycerides
-
-
The gylcerol is bonded to phosphate which is bonded to a polar ground (choline, serine, inositol, and ethanolamine)
-
Amphipathic, have a hydrophobic and hydrophilic region. Also most abundant lipid in the plasma membrane.
Membrane Fluidity
-
FLuidity buffers
Materials that prevent too much rigidity, and too manuc fluidity.
Cholesterol
High temperatures, its interactiosn with the fatty acid chains help hold the fluid membrane together
Low temperature
Its structure embdedded into the fluid membrane prevents tight packing, which increases at least SOME FLuidity.
Fluid mosaic model
The phospholipids move around (fluid) with proteins, glycoproteins and cholesterol amoung other objects floating in between
Membrane compotition
Lipid rafts
Regions of particularly longer fatty acid chains, which means a thicker membrane.
Has longer transmembrane proteins, which are more stable in the membrane here (no wobbling, more interactions keeps them stable)
The fluid mosaic model emphases membrane diversity, but not spatial diversity
High amounts of cholesterol, sphingomyelin, gangliosides, and phosphoglyceride and saturated fatty acid chains
Components tightly packed, less fluidity in the rafts
Membrane assymetrry
Whhen the two layers of the membrane are not euqal/equal ish indicated seperate functions for each layer
Different carbohydrates, proteins and lipids
