Standard pay 1 denarius - same as a soldier's pay - paid at the end so the worker could go and buy food for the family

Real LW = £13.45
No work - no pay - no dinner
Early - goes to marketplace where day labourers gathered

By 9 - not enough people - gets some more - no pay agreed
