- - - - THE ETHNOGRAPHIC DAZZLE > you hear someone speaking and you easily understand if he's from the UK or the USA because you notice the differences between certain behaviors > YOU ARE MARKED BY ELEMENTS OF DIFFERENCE RATHER THAN ELEMENTS OF SIMILARITIES
        
        DAZZLE: they share the majority of the behaviors practice, but you still notice some differences
- - - - IN COGNITIVE TERMS (what is this?) > is in this case that you might want to apply either the exploratory repertoire or the evaluative repertoire (this is what goes on with science)
      - The stage in which we normally try to understand the phenomenon we are dealing with > IN AFFECTIVE TERMS (how do I feel about this?) > to legitimize your orientation (I'm interested in it/I don't like it)
      - IN PRAGMATIC/OPERATIVE TERMS (what can I do with respect to this?) > is this useful to my competence? (how to deal with that reality)
    - - SELF > an idea of yourself that you developed > ex when you are asked to introduce yourself you start by saying your name, surname, gender, family, ethnic identity, religion... or when you are in a formal context you provide your family name and not your first name because this is a custom based on CULTURE
      - SELF and OTHERS both in terms of
        
        Relationships: individualism (there are certain situations where individualism is more important than collectivism > you think about yourself first > this is not about being selfish)
        
        Roles (authority, power, control...) > we recognize the function/role that someone has in that context (there is a certain imbalance that is acceptable because based on this criteria)
      - ACTIVITIES, both in terms of
        
        Practices > standard/efficient way to deal with things: efficiency, what to do in given circumstances (you feel sick, so you go to the doctor)
        
        Strategies > effectiveness, how to best carry out activities (if you feel extremely sick you don't go to the doctor, but you go to the hospital > this is the best possible way to deal with this situation)
        
        Behaviors: out-of-awareness reactions to certain stimuli > "adjacency pairs" (when someone sneezes your reaction is to say "bless you" > even if it is semantically wrong)
        
        Rituals: conventionalized ways of doing things > greetings, introducing rituals... (when you say "Can I ask you something?" this is something that everyone would do to make their request easy, acceptable)
      - REALITY and EVENTS (nature, the past, the future, birth, death, divinity...) > the way we interpret something and decide to deal with things (if we think about nature > POSITIVE > but it is based on culture > when you go to another country and it doesn't rain for months, there nature is considered something NEGATIVE)
