Duodenopancreatic Block (Anatomical Relations) - Coggle Diagram
Duodenopancreatic Block (Anatomical Relations)
Peritoneal Embryology & Duodenopancreatic Lodge
Embryological Fixation (Treitz Fascia)
Makes DPB "secondarily retroperitoneal"
Formally creates the "Fascia of Treitz"
Embryonic rotation rightward → fusion of duodenal mesentery with parietal peritoneum
Exceptions (Intraperitoneal)
"Duodenal Bulb" (initial D1)
"Tail of Pancreas" (reaches splenic hilum)
Both remain mobile/intraperitoneal
Bounded anteriorly by the definitive posterior parietal peritoneum and posteriorly by the fascia of Treitz
Root of Transverse Mesocolon
Extends from genu inferius → crosses pancreatic head → runs along inferior pancreatic border → ends at angle of Treitz
Intralodular Relations (Around Duodenal Frame & Pancreas)
Head & Isthmus
Portal Vein: Posterior to pancreatic neck/isthmus
Superior Mesenteric Vessels: Cross anterior to D3 & uncinate process
Body & Tail
Splenic Pedicle: Splenic artery & vein
Splenic Hilum: Abuts pancreatic tail
Ducts & Arcades
Common Bile Duct (Choledochus): Runs posteriorly in pancreatic head
Duodenopancreatic Arcades: Embedded within the head/duodenal groove
External Relations (Outside the DP Lodge)
Anterior Relations (Divided by Transverse Mesocolon)
Supramesocolic Compartment
Visceral surface of Liver & Gallbladder
To the left: Stomach (separated by the omental bursa / lesser sac)
Inframesocolic Compartment
Posterior Relations (Retroperitoneal Structures)
Midline Structures
Lumbar Vertebral Column
Inferior Vena Cava (IVC)
Abdominal Aorta

Right Adrenal Gland
Right Kidney
Right Gonadal Pedicle
Left Side
