Ensure National security
Definition - The ability of a nation to protect and defend their citizens
Example - after the 9/11 attacks, the U.S. increased security at airports to help prevent another attack and keep people safe.
Maintain order
Definition - the responsibility of government to ensure a stable and peaceful society
Example -officers screening visitors for weapons at the courthouse.
resolve conflict
Definition - informal or formal processes that two or more parties use to address disagreements
Example - Two groups in the government disagree about new education law. they could take about their differnt opinions and work together to come up with a solution
Provide services
Definition - Any service intended to address the needs of aggregate members of a community
Example - law enforcement, fire protection, emergency medical services EMS, road maintenance, traffic management
Serve the public good
Definition - someone who dedicates their efforts to serving the community and the greater good
Example - builds and maintains public parks so people in the community have a safe place to exercise, relax, and spend time with their families
