COMMUNICATION
Forms, types and functions are going to influence the way we articulate those meanings which are available in our culture, in order to make them understandable to our interlocutor
MEDIUM
Oral channel: highly context-based > in presupposes that the text you are producing is relevant to the context
Informal - unrehearsed (situational context interpersonal context) > you didn't plan in advance what to talk about (you say what goes around your mind)
Formal - rehearsed (cultural context) > the case of those context where the exchange has been rehearsed in advance (you plan to say things in advance) > our brain is processing what we want to say through revision. It could also be used when there's a sort of conflict between you and your interlocutor because you want to show that your point of view is valid
Written channel: little context-based > you decide to write down something when you find them relevant to the context. They need to be semantically and syntactic self-standing > everything that makes the text understandable should be textualized

Private - informal > when we write things for ourselves (diary) we are not informing ourselves about something (we know what we are writing about) > we can allow ourselves not to be specific

To others = letters > you write to people close to you (parents, relatives, friends...) > you can take some things for granted
