Left Suprahepatic Sector
Drained by the Left Hepatic Vein (courses in left portal fissure)
Right Suprahepatic Sector
Drained by the Right Hepatic Vein (courses in right portal fissure)
Median Suprahepatic Sector
Drained by the Middle Hepatic Vein (courses in principal portal fissure)
Dorsal Suprahepatic Sector
Drained by Caudate Veins emptying directly into the IVC

Segment I
(Posterior Sector / Caudate Lobe / Spiegel's Lobe)
Features: Independent portal & venous supply (drains directly into IVC)
Left Liver (Divided by Left Portal Fissure)
Left Fissure
Extends from left border of IVC to apex of left lobe
Left Lateral Sector
Segment III (Anterior part of left lobe)
Segment IV (Quadrate lobe / medial segment of left liver)
Left Medial Sector
Segment II (Posterior part of left lobe)
Right Liver (Divided by Right Portal Fissure)
Right Fissure
Passes to the right of the right border of the IVC
Right Lateral Sector
Segment VI (Posterior inferior)

Principles of Segmentation
Duality
Portal segmentation ≠ Suprahepatic segmentation (they are not superimposable)
Purpose
Enables precise lesion localization and conservative/parenchyma-sparing hepatic resections
Principal Fissure (Main Portal Fissure / Cantlie's Line)
Divides the liver functionally into Right Liver and Left Liver
Virtual line running from the left border of the IVC to the middle of the gallbladder fossa
