Red V. Blue
Inspiration, elements, aesthetics
Games
Fancy Pants
-
I really like the contrast of simple stick figure with more rendered details on the character (clothing)
-
Henry Stickmin
Maybe not, actually. There's not a lot style wise from this game that I would want to imitate.
Pokemon
I wanted to consider pokemon for it's turned based action and how animations/effects handle this, but I don't know if it completely aligns
-
Super Smash Bros
Final smashes, particularly in ultimate, have a lot to take inspiration wise. I think for our game Wario's is kind of the staple. How the background darkens, the speed lines/VFX, the little diagonal slash of of characters to indicate the opposing character is effed in the A.
-
-
The Impossible Quiz
The Ui and art style here is what drew me in. It's so simple, blocky and fun that you get the feeling it fits well on a piece of scrap paper.
-
One Finger Death Punch
Visually speaking, I take no inspiration. Conceptually speaking, I take a lot and start to see a pattern: characters interacting with their environment, variety and recycling of weaponry, creative moves/deaths. It's creative how the game delivers new props and weapons for the player to potentially interact with and repair things.
Geometry dash
Really, I just like the UI. It's blocky simplicity might fit the theme of the game
Books
-
Dogman
I really like the texture and gradient of the backgrounds, possible typeface (handwritten), the text style
-
The Investigators
I like it for a lot of the same reasons I like Dogman, but I particuarly focus on the character renders
-
Shows
asdfmovie
Funny, but nothing to take from this.
Animation vs.
This applies mostly to how I should handle the second version. I was more so interested in how VFX were rendered.
-
I also really enjoyed seeing how programs were broken up, or how icons were used as weapons
-
There were some notable fonts, too.
-
I will say for rendering sake, the thumbnails do a really good job
-
Stick Figures on Crack
Something charming about this is how they use random pngs with their animation. Otherwise, meh.
Animeme rap batles
So the only thing I really liked about this were the vs. screens. I thought it would create a sense of romanticism and contrast to the more or less charmingly drawn aspects of the game

Story
College roommates and best friends Dylan and Dan are bored of their mind in lecture during their math class. They decide to wind down with a little bit of fun...stick figure fights! The pretend match between the two gets so rowdy that the professor sends them out, but their classmates are intrigued, and more stick-sonas come to join the fray.
An office worker gets bored trying to file a report, and ends up deciding to draw two stick figures on mspaint instead. They leave their desk and their computer to the mercy of these stick figures as they engage in all out brawl.
