SU(science understanding)
Developing knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts about the natural and physical world.
Chemical sciences – materials, their properties and how they can change.
Earth and space sciences – Earth, weather, natural processes and space.
Biological sciences – living things and their needs, features, growth and relationships.
Physical sciences – forces, movement, light, sound, heat and energy.
EYLF Learning Outcome
Learning Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world. Children learn about the world around them by exploring nature, living things and their environment.
Learning Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners. Children build their understanding by being curious, exploring, experimenting and finding out how things work.
SHE(Science as a Human Endeavour)
students learn about the nature of science such as role of science inquiry in developing science knowledge, and some of the factors that affect the use and advancement of science.
Learning Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners – children “develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating”.
