Types of ethical dilemmas
Hypothetical dilemma:
It is an imagined, unlikely situation where someone has to make a difficult decision.
Royal Dilemma:
Is an ethical problem that can happen in everyday life, It feels personal because it's the kind of thing that could actually happen to you. which can make it stressful even if its not that big.
Open dilemma or solution:
Is when you're presented with a problem, but no one has decided what to do yet. The point is for you to choose the solution.
Closed or analysis dilemma:
Is looking back at a situation that has been decided. And see if they made the right decition.
Complete Dilemmas:
Is when you know what will happen with every choice you could make.
Incomplete dilemmas:
In these dilemmas, the consequences of the protagonist's decisions are not made explicit, and depend largely on the person's ability to imagine the advantages and disadvantages.
Definitions
Definition of Ethics:
Ethics is the part of philosophy that studies how we behave what's good, what's bad, what we should do, and how to live well together.
Definition of Morality:
Is the group of rules, values and beliefs that a society accept that people use as a model to judge what's right and what's wrong.
Values
Universal value:
This are the set of rules for living together that people see as good and valid, and this is considered part of the human nature.
Virtue:
It´s the human quality that the people act well and always do the right thing, so this seems seen as good. Also, a virtue is how well something works to produce a certain effect.
Universal Virtue
: Dahlsgaard, Peterson & Seligman, They propose six fundamental virtues that could be recognized in most religious and philosophical traditions: courage, justice, humanity, temperance, wisdom, and transcendence.
Value (RAE)
How usefull is something for a meeting a need or giving a pleasure
The quality of things that makes people pay an amount of money for them.
How much a thing, action, word or phrase means or matters.
The subsistence and firmness of an act.
Ethical criteria
Utilitarian criterion:
It is any action that brings the greatest benefit, well-being, satisfaction or best results.
Deontological criterion:
It is the one based on the duty established by society or by institutions, and it is essential for the educational development of a good professional.
Aretological:
It consists of giving the greatest pleasure and the best quality.
