Transport in humans and plants by temp
Why
Humans+plants= multicellular organisms
millions of cells
A lot no direct contact with environment
Cannot get useful substances or remove waste fast enough through diffusion
Need fast transport system to transport oxygen+nutrients to all cells
Also fast waste removal
Unicelluar
No need transport system
In direct contact with environment (can remove waste through diffusion)
Transport in human
Circulatory system
Heart, blood vessels, blood
blood flows in one complete circle+passes through heart twice= double circulation (in humans)
Pulmonary circulation=heart to lungs
Systematic circulation= heart to rest of body
Circulation of blood
pulmonary artery → lungs → pulmonary vein → left atrium → left ventricle → arteries → capillaries (rest of the body) → veins → right atrium → right ventricle
Blood vessels
Arteries, veins, capillaries
Arteries -> Carries blood away from heart
No exchange of substances only transport
Lumen:
Thickness of muscular wall
Pressure of blood
2 more items...
Veins: Thinner
1 more item...
Veins: Larger
Capillary: Very narrow
1 more item...
Veins-> carries blood toward the heart
makes sure blood flow in one direction
Capillaries -> thin+fragile
allow substances like oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients and waste substances to flow
The heart
Funnel shaped+muscular organ
Pumps blood to all parts of the body
Valves make sure blood only flow one direction in heart
