SRA supports rural communities across Scotland, including village halls. In December 2022, SRA established a Village Halls Working Group, bringing together organisations that support village halls in different ways. The group includes representatives from the Scottish National Rural Network, SCVO, InspirAlba, DTAS, ACRE, Community Enterprise, SES, TSI Moray, SCA, Connected Hubs Scotland, First Port, Historic Environment Scotland, Borders Community Action, Glenkens Community Spaces Network, SCOTO, with SRA as secretariat.
Working with its wider network, SRA supports and celebrates village halls through collaborating during Village Halls Week, shared learning, resources such as the Village Halls Handbook, and information on grants and funding through events and newsletters. SRA also provides workshops, online sessions and networking opportunities to help committees address priorities, including regulatory requirements such as Martyn’s Law, for which SRA has developed an easy-access guide.
