Manage and develop modern, accessible library spaces that serve as essential research, learning and collaboration hubs, providing access to tailored scientific and healthcare resources, unique historic collections, and specialised staff support
Ensure that Knowledge and Library Services (KLS) is sufficiently resilient in the event of any incidents, disasters or emergencies to meet organisational need

Provide and facilitate access to the best available knowledge, research and evidence base for public health
Identify and evaluate emerging AI technologies related to information science, and incorporate the most successful within KLS practices, to ensure effective and efficient services
Provide leadership in evidence synthesis to enable evidence-informed decisions that protect the nation’s health. This includes delivering evidence synthesis products to support advice, policy and research for UKHSA priorities, and providing methodological expertise across UKHSA to support others in conducting evidence synthesis products
Develop and deliver learning interventions to improve information literacy and increase user self-sufficiency across the whole public health system
Encourage upskilling and CPD for all KLS staff to allow greater participation in key aspects of the services
Ensure effective engagement, visibility and communication to enable users to access and make full use of KLS services, resources and expertise
Enable UKHSA to generate, capture, find, share, retain and mobilise knowledge, and facilitate the transfer of knowledge into policy and practice
Lead, advocate and deliver excellence in public health knowledge and library services to the wider public health system
Undertake developmental projects strengthening and evolving Knowledge and Library Services to remain relevant, resilient and aligned to organisational and system priorities
