I don't think there is a cover for this flashlight.

Batteries are probably in the flashlight given the heft.
Check the Battery compartment.

There is gonna be something wrong with the battery compartment given storage in humid area.
Check the battery compartment for oddities.
There is some residue on 3 of 4 of the springs that carry the charge and one of them is missing.
Do I have another flashlight so I don't have to maintenance this one?

Are they dead?
Batteries are most likely dead given last time of use.
Check voltage of all the batteries with a multimeter.
All the AAA batteries are measuring below 1.0V.
Do I even have extras?
