Europe has two climate zones
TEMPERATE CLIMATE
: most of Europe has moderate temperatures. It can be classified into:
MEDITERRANEAN
characteristic of the Mediterranean coast and some interior areas in the south of Europe
Hot summers
Mild winters
Little rain, especially in summer
VEGETATION: evergreen trees : wild olive, cork, oak , rosemary
CONTINENTAL
Hot summers
Very cold winters
Eastern Europe
More rainfall in summer
VEGETATION: steppes and taiga ( firs and pines)
OCEANIC
Abundant and regular rainfall
It has four seasons
Temperatures are mild in summer
For example: Great Britain
Along the Atlantic Coast and central Europe
VEGETATION: meadows and deciduous forests (oak and beech)
*COLD CLIMATE
*found in areas with high altitude
POLAR CLIMATE
Cool summers (up to 15ºC)
Scarce prcipitation
Veery cold winters ( up to -50ºC)
Found in Northers Scandinavia and Russia
VEGETATION: Tundra ( mosses, lichens, small shrubs)
MOUNTAIN OR ALPINE CLIMATE
Very cold winters
Cool summers
in the highest mountains
Abundant precipitation
VEGETATION: Tundra ( mosses, lichens, small shrubs)
