problems
problem one: stationary being stolen
what is the problem?
In classrooms, stationary and essential equipment are constantly being stolen. This is a problem as teachers have to continue to restock things such as pencils and pens, which are fundamental to learning.
who is affected?
teachers, substitute teachers, and tutors are regularly being affected by missing apparatus. Even students are affected, as schooling is being restricted due to the lack of consideration by others.
where does this happen?
as all these problems have in common, this problem happens in classrooms, offices and private studies.
when does this happen?
this happens during school and in tutor time, in office hours, or anytime of day in private studies. This is when people are usually more active within the building/ job.
why does this happen?
this happens because other students or colleagues take stationary without returning or losing it. Unless they bring back and store the equipment, it will eventually get lost or misplaced.
how can this be solved?
this problem would only be solved via its core. if others have access to their own equipment, this problem shouldn't be an obstacle. this means my product should be reproducable.
problem three: money being wasted
what is the problem?
the schools budget(s) being used unnecessarily on stationary and lost books
who is affected?
heads of school, department, teachers, and students (reduced trips and rewards)
where does this happen?
this happens outside of the classrooms and with teachers in meetings for the department.
why does this happen?
this happens because of the large scale of loss and repeated sales for books, paper, stationary and even teachers whiteboard pens. My product will reduce these costs and help keep many of them safe in the classroom.
how can this be solved?
this can be solved by designing a product that is innovative and will keep loss and payments to a minimum. it will do this by protecting items safe and push students to buy stationary for themselves (and keep it safe!)
problem four: wasting learning time
what is the problem?
during lessons, teachers lose a significant amount of time as students ask for stationary, new books or paper. They also lose time looking for their own personal stationary; if it hasn't been taken already
who is affected?
again, the teachers and students are affected. the students lose crucial learning time, and teachers are sidetracked and are not able to teach properly.
where does this happen?
this happens also in classrooms, where most knowledge is passed.
why does this happen?
this happens because students didn't bring any stationary, and they simply ask for some. this leads to disruption and can lead to a loss in grades and tests.
how can this be solved?
this can be solved by producing a product that stays on the tables/ teachers desk. it will give students to take stationary without and disruptions and the class can continue smoothly.
problem two: students turning up with no equipment/book
what is the problem?
Students continue to enter classrooms and lessons without proper stationary or equipment. this is either because of a lack of initiative or because they have no current access to it. my product will give these students an opportunity to learn by borrowing apparatus.
who is affected?
teachers are affected as they have to give away their own equipment; students are affected as they do not bring the stationary and are restricted in their learning.
where does this happen?
this also happens in the classroom, but the problem develops outside of school.
why does this happen?
the problem develops outside of school. they're a few ways this can occur: students refuse to purchase stationary, they continuously lose it or they give it all away.
how can this be solved?
this can be solved via providing apparatus in lessons; this stops a halt in teaching and improves learning for the whole class.
