Memory : operates on reconstructing things, not a perfect recoring
3 main memeory systems
Long term memory
-
Implicit ( no consiouse recal, is like getting habituauited to things, procedural skills of how to do tasks.
Explicit, is deliberate memory, is personal events and specific memorys, facts and such
Short Term memory
-
Loses through decay (fading) or interference, which is like overlapping something over the top
Can be extended through chunking, which is group thingings, or rehersal, which is repeating
-
Three Main procressess
Encoding ( attention, depth)
Factors that assist encoding: Attention, depth of understanding, emption, mean
Storage ( Schemas, can be distored)
Keeps the information after intial encoding, using schemas. Which are mental frameworks that are effectiant, but often fil in gaps.
Retrieval (recall, recognition relearing)
3 Rs, recall (generate it), recognition, and relearning. It is not perfect, if trying to recall something, helps when in same situation as time it was encoded. This is called dependant memeory.
