PHYSICS FORCES
-
gravity and weight
-
-
-
-
-
-
the weight of an object is directly proportional to the mass of the object e.g is the mass doubles, the weigh doubles
-
-
-
-
forces and elasticity
elastic material will always return back to their original shape if the forces acting on them are taken away
-
inelastic materials do not return to their original shape once a force has acted on it and the is called inelastic deformation
-
-
Speed
-
displacement tells us an object moves in a straight line from that start point to the finish point and is a vector
walking speed - 1.5m/s , running = 3m/s, cycling = 6m/s, car = 13m/s, train = 50m/s, plane = 250m/s, sound in air = 330m/s
-
-
Acceleration
-
-
-
-
terminal velocity - the maximum and constant speed reached by an object falling when the downward force of gravity is perfectly balanced by the upward force of air resistance - some objects experience greater friction due to their shape - lower terminal velocity
force and braking
-
-
during braking, the brake presses against the wheel and the force of friction acts between them and the kenetic energy form the car is converted into thermal energy and the temperature of the brakes increases - car slows down as it loses kinetic energy

-
-
momentum
-
-
conservation of momentum - in a closed system, the total momentum before an event is = to the total momentum after an event
velocity
-
in a circle, at a constant speed, velocity of an object is changing as its direction is changing
