Each student should press un-washed index, middle, and ring fingers of one hand onto the pre-treatment half of their respective blood agar plate.
One participant should was their hands with soap for the duration of 'Happy Birthday' and then dry with paper towel, before pressing the same 3 fingers onto the treatment half of the respective blood agar plate.
The other participant should wash their hands using alcohol-based hand sanitizer until the treatment dries, before pressing the same 3 fingers onto the treatment half of the respective blood agar plate.
