Pinnacle of feminist ideas: Much like Moira, Offred's mother poses direct opposition to patriarchy, being described by Offred as a strong feminist activist. She is arguably the greatest symbol of resistance to Gilead, as, unlike other rebellious figures like Moira and Ofglen, she seemingly refuses to even become a handmaid, being seen in the Colonies, and in doing so, she refuses to let her body be dictated by a male-run state, and instead asserts her last piece of autonomy by deciding to die in the Colonies.
