Class activity: Learners will observe the night sky at home and draw the stars and moon they see.

Class activity: Learners will use a torch to find out how earth's movement creates day and night.
Concept: Erath's movement causes day and night (DBE, 2011).

Subtopic 1: Cultural stories about the sky
Class activity: Learners listen to different cultural stories about moon and stars and compare the difference.
Concept: Dissimilar cultures have stories about beliefs about the moon and stars (Naude & Meier, 2025).
Subtopic 2: Navigation using stars
Class activity: Learners play-roles of sailors and tourists using star maps to find directions.
Concept: Stars help tourists and boatman find their way (Naude & Meier, 2025).
Technology
Subtopic 1: Building star charts
Class activity: Learners create a star hart and use it tom identify solar systems in the classroom.
Concept: Star charts help people identify solar system and stars (DBE, 2011).
Subtopic 2: Designing a telescope model
Class activity: Learners will discover how lenses and tubes help people see distant objects and then after will be able to create a telescope model.
Concept: Tools that can help people observe distant objects in space (DBE, 2011).
