headache

nucal rigidity
reluctance/inability to tuck chin to chest
pallor or mottled skin
petechial rash
meningitis only symptoms
back ache
stiff or painful neck
sensitivity to light
twitching or con
Septicaemia only symptoms
fever with cold hands/feet
cold shivers
pain in muscle/joints
pain in chest/abdo
pale grey/blotchy skin
rapid breathing
diahorrea
petechial rash
management
do not delay for blood cultures, but collect prior
infection prevention
droplet and contact precautions
antibiotics
assessment
rapid onset of sepsis symptoms +/- rash
petechial rash
pinpoint, non-itchy red, purple, or brown dots caused by bleeding under the skin
neck stiffness
pain when trying to touch chin to chest
NEWS: in sepsis
examination
temp: hyperthermic
HR: tachycardic
BP: hypotension
altered conscious state
