The Second World War began in 1939. Britain was in
an alliance of countries from the Commonwealth and

Commonwealth fought in British army. They were
mostly welcomed and given skilled roles. There was
some racism and discrimination. After the war, many

Many Black people living in Britain after the Second World War faced racism and discrimination. In Bristol, the Bristol Omnibus Company refused to employ Black or Asian drivers. This led to Paul Stephenson and Roy Hackett organizing a boycott of the buses. It led to the bus company changing their policy and helped brin the 1965 Race
Relations Act.
