        On Earth, the gravitational force acts on all objects
        
        When objects move away from the Earth's surface,
        
        They have the energy to fall back to the ground
        
        As gravitational force pulls them downwards.
        
        The energy possessed by an object due to its position from the ground.
        
        It gets affected by these two factors
        
        Mass of the object
        
        As the mass of an object increases
        
        The amount of gravitational potential energy possessed by the object increases
        
        When it is raised to a height
        
        Height of the object
        
        As the height of an object increases
        
        The amount of gravitational potential energy possessed by the object increases
      - Elastic potential energy
        
        Elastic potential energy is energy stored in elastic objects that can be stretched, compressed, twisted or bent
        
        The more the elastic object is compressed or stretched, the greater the amount of elastic potential energy is stored
        
        The energy is stored until the force is removed and the object springs back to its original shape, doing work in the process when the elastic potential energy converts into kinetic energy.

        The more kinetic energy it has
        
        Example:
        
        An object of 2 kg moving at a higher speed has more kinetic energy than an object of 2 kg moving at a lower speed.
      - Mass of the moving object

        The more kinetic energy it has
        
        Example:
        
        An object of 4 kg has more kinetic energy than an object of 2 kg on the same surface when both of them move with the same speed

        Can be transformed into other forms of energy in power stations or in food industries

      - When objects vibrate, they move back and forth very quickly to produce sound
        
        When sound reaches our ears, we can detect it
        
        Sound can only travel through a solid, a liquid or a gas to reach our ears
        
        But cannot travel through a vacuum
