Functions of Emotions
Intrapersonal Functions
Prepare body for action emotions allow quick decisions with minimal thinking; we move straight to reactions
When afraid
digestion slows (dry mouth), blood flows to lower body to run, air is breathed in to flee
Influence thought
shape attitudes, values, beliefs; can help or hurt concentration
Neural Glue
emotions connect memories, easier to remember happy things when happy, angry things when angry
The idea that emotions connect memories explains why I remember bad days whenever I lose a trade. After losing a trade, usually I can control my emotions, but if im consistently losing and making dumb decisions, I start to think back on days I did the exact same thing and continue to take bad trades instead of staying patient or taking a break for the day.
