Strange situation task:Developed by mary ainsworth and is used to assess a child’s attachment style. She would invite a child and their caregiver into a lab, then have the caregiver leave. She would then monitor what the child does when they leave and when they return. This would be used to determine their attachment styles.
Avoidant attachment style: Child does not show much reaction to the absence of a caregiver. Proceeded to avoid the caregiver after they returned
Avoidant attachment: Unresponsive, neglect
Anxious-resistant attachment style: Child is distressed without the caregiver, but the caregiver returning didn’t remedy this

Secure attachment style: Child is distressed without the caregiver, seeing them as a sign of security and comfort.

Trauma bonding: Extreme attachment to above partners who is “in-charge: of the relationship, often based on cycles of leaving and returning/hot and cold
Battered person syndrome: stays loyal to a domestic abuser due to extreme emotional trauma (Afraid of what will happen if they leave)
