World War 1 started around the same time, making the Irish think this was a good opportunity as the British were distracted.
Home Rule
The British delayed Home Rule due to the start of the First World War. This made the Irish think that they were never going to receive Home Rule.
Consequences and Reception of the Easter Rising
Consiquences
Due to the execution of Patrick Pearce and many more people involved, the people who originally did not like the rising and were with the British suddenly turned and hated the British for executing them. This led to people starting to vouch for the Rising, and later influence more resisttance.
Reception
[Before Executions] The general public did not like the Easter Rising as it caused the deaths of many innocent people and Infrastructure, they even went as far as greeting the British soldiers with gifts as they arrived.
[After Executions] After the executions of the members in the Easter Rising, the people who hated it found themselves now hating the British.
