Blood pressure control
Dietary Adjustments: Adopt a heart-healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, such as the DASH diet.
Reduce Sodium: Lower daily salt intake to less than 2,300 mg, with an ideal limit of 1,500 mg for most adults, which can lower systolic pressure by 6-8 points.
Weight Management: Losing even a small amount of weight (e.g., a 5% reduction in body weight) can significantly lower blood pressure.
Physical Activity: Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise (brisk walking, cycling) most days.
Limit Alcohol and Caffeine: Limit alcohol consumption (no more than one drink/day for women, two for men) and reduce high-caffeine drinks.
Stop Smoking: Quitting smoking improves overall cardiovascular health and helps manage blood pressure.
