- - - - When will a student need to rely on this capability in a Business Studies classroom?
        -In virtually every lesson during 'explicit instruction' the student needs to be able to listen to and understand their teacher.
        -During collaborative activities (jigsaw task) a student will need to be able to listen to their partners or group members to understand and work with them.
        
        How can they be supported?
        Explicit Instruction: Set a timer for how long I will be delivering content in order to develop students' stamina.
        
        How can they be supported?
        Collaboration: Group students by mixed-ability and allocate roles to students to keep their responsibilities clear. This can help simplify communication and therefore aid with listening.
  - - - Phonic Awareness is the relationship between spoken and written text in which it supports students' development in blending sounds to create words.
      - In a business studies class this can be introduced when learning new terminology by having students break down terms such as “entrepreneur = en-tre-pre-neur" or having students practice their oral speaking skills via turn-and-talks or class discussions to practice the spoken aspect of phonic awareness
      - retrieval of key terminology from previous lessons and for a current lesson. Breaking down terms as a class. Visual aids , e.g. poster
- - - - When will a student need to rely on this capability in a Business Studies classroom?
        -A Year 11 Business Management student who is asked to propose a number of locations for a new business would need to use mapping software and locational skills to suggest and evaluate differing options.
        
        How can they be supported?
        Students could be shown tutorials for digital mapping software or tools like Google Maps to develop their numeracy.
        Alternatively, the teacher could model skills (e.g. measuring the distance of a business to a supplier) on a map.
  - - - Students' ability to predict the likelihood of an ourcome or event occuring
      - In a business study this may be implemented via having students determine possible outcomes of a scenario. E.g in Legal Studies present a case and students may have to determine the possible outcomes of the trial (e.g. if a criminal case, guilty or not guilty)
