Lily, the granddaughter of a grandmother named Annie, sometimes visits her on weekends. Annie lives on the coast in a small village called Tregellan. It was a sunny day. Annie told Lily a story from her youth...
Annie said to Lily, "Do you remember when I was your age? That lighthouse was my home, and my father looked after it. There were only one or two houses, and there was no electricity. It was hard living in a lighthouse. It was very quiet. There were only two of us, and we worked hard. There was always a lot of work to do: cleaning, fishing for dinner. I was very good at fishing and rowing! My school was 10 kilometers away; there were no buses. But one night, sixty years ago, there was a terrible storm..."
Father: "Annie, wake up! There's a fishing boat in trouble. I need your help."
Father: "Quick, alert the rescue team!"
Annie: "Hello? Hello!" "Can you hear me?" Annie spoke into the radio.
Father: "Well, there's no time." "I need you to help me with the boat. Let's go!" There was a problem with the radio.
The fishing boat was stuck among the rocks, and the sailors were in danger.
"Father: We're coming!"
"Sailor 1: HELP!"
The sailors were very scared. But the father was very strong, and Annie rowed very well.
The next day, a news story about Annie and her father appeared in the newspaper.
Annie finished telling the story and said,
"Annie: Well, that happened a long time ago. Let's go to the lighthouse before it rains."

Lily, nieta de una abuela llamada Annie, a veces la visita los fines de semana. Annie vive en la costa, en un pequeño pueblo llamado Tregellan. Era un día soleado. Annie le contó a Lily una historia de su juventud...
Annie le dijo a Lily: "¿Te acuerdas cuando tenía tu edad? Ese faro era mi hogar y mi padre lo cuidaba. Solo había una o dos casas y no había electricidad. Era duro vivir en un faro. Era muy silencioso. Éramos solo dos y trabajábamos mucho. Siempre había mucho trabajo: limpiar, pescar para la cena. ¡Se me daba muy bien pescar y remar! Mi escuela estaba a 10 kilómetros; no había autobuses. Pero una noche, hace sesenta años, hubo una tormenta terrible..."
Padre: "¡Annie, despierta! Hay un barco pesquero en apuros. Necesito tu ayuda."
Padre: "¡Rápido, avisa al equipo de rescate!"
Annie: "¿Hola? ¡Hola!" "¿Me oyes?" Annie habló por la radio.
«Padre: Bueno, no hay tiempo. Necesito que me ayudes con el bote. ¡Vamos!» Hubo un problema con la radio.
El barco pesquero quedó atascado entre las rocas y los marineros estaban en peligro.
«Padre: ¡Ya vamos!»
«Marinero 1: ¡AYUDA!»
Los marineros estaban muy asustados. Pero el padre era muy fuerte y Annie remaba muy bien.
Al día siguiente, salió una noticia en el periódico sobre Annie y su padre.
Annie terminó de contar la historia y dijo:
«Annie: Bueno, eso pasó hace mucho tiempo. Vamos al faro antes de que llueva.»
