Childcare Options (UK and USA)
In-Home Care
Childcare services provided within a residential setting.
Childminder:
Takes care of children in their own home (the childminder's house).
Must have specific skills, knowledge, and competency.
Nanny:
Provides care in the parents' home.
Can be live-in or live-out.
Night Nannies: Specialize in caring for newborns during the night.
Au Pair:
Usually a student (aged 17–27).
Lives with the family and helps with childcare under parental supervision.
Receives a bedroom, meals, and "pocket money."
2. Out-of-Home Care
Services provided in professional facilities.
Day Nurseries:
Age range: From birth to about 3 years old.
Types: Private, community, local authority, or workplace nurseries.
Operations: Usually open 5 days a week; offer both half-day and full-time care.
Crèches
Service: Provide "occasional care" for children.
Flexibility: Used by parents on an irregular basis (not a fixed daily schedule).

Target Group: Local families with young children, usually under five years old.
Services:
Access to facilities for kids to enjoy.
Support for families, including free parenting support.
3. Pre-schools
Definition: Educational establishments that offer early schooling.
Age Range: Children between 3 and 5 years old.
Context: Attended before starting compulsory education at primary school.
Management: Can be privately operated or government-run.
