The atmosphere is grey, cold and depressing.
Telescreens and control
In every house there is a telescreen.
The telescreen watches and listens to people all the time.
Privacy does not exist.
People are always controlled by the Party.
The Party
The Party controls information, history and people’s thoughts.
The slogans are
“WAR IS PEACE”
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
“IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH”
These slogans show the idea of “doublethink”, accepting opposite ideas as true.
