Industry vs Agriculture
The Southern states climate consisted of fertile soil within a long growing season. This was ideal for making money off of farming. The northern states climate war cooler with harder soil which was not ideal for farming which is why there main industries consisted of Factories and industries.
The northern workforce consisted of Factories in which mostly imagrantts worked that got payed very low wages. This is how the north made lots of money through profit margins because they were paying less and making more.
The Southern workforce was made of slaves that worked on farms with horrible work conditions, they also worked for zero pay. They mostly farmed cotton, corn, rice, indigo, and tobacco.

Election of 1860
The people that could vote were only men because at the time slaves and women were discriminated against.

Lincoln’s thoughts on the expansion of slavery
were that he did not support it and when he became president he wanted to abolish it.

Tariffs
Northern states supported tariffs because it it was meant to protect their products and make more money.
Southern states opposed tariffs because it opposed countries in Europe like Britain from buying there mass produced crops like cotton.

Slavery
The definition of cash crop is cotton, corn, rice, and tobacco sold in markets for profit.
Slaves were discriminated against because they were considered personal tools like for farming and they lived in inadequate shelters with crappy food too eat.
Abolitionists were an extension of the church because the churches disagreed with the inhuman system the south developed with slaves

States rights
The purpose of the federal government was to to govern and manage states to make sure they stay aligned and stay together as a country
The 10th amendment supported states rights since the constitution doesn't list every possible right it gives the power back to the states wich gave them more power.
The Fugitive Slave Act upset Northern Abolitionists because it benefited the Southern states without giving the northern states any say in it.

The Fugitive Slave Act was an act which made it illegal to help run away slaves or help them with escaping furthermore.
The result of the popularity of Stowe’s novel
was that it opens people eyes on how bad slavery was because many people did not know.

Sectionalism
Geographical Differences (North/South), The north had harder soil with a harsher and cooler climate that led to there production of more and bigger Factories which led there economy. While the south a better, warmer climate, soft and fertile soil, which led to there economy being powered by farming and agriculture.
New states caused regional division because it caused them to rely on either manufacturing or farming which caused them to hate one or the other depending on which one they used more.
Sectionalism is the difference between nations, things, or people.
