A crop that is grown specifically to be sold for profit instead of being for a farmers consumption or other things.

Uncle Tom's Cabin
The Fugitive Slave Act meant it required any person to help in the capture of any fleeing enslaved people
The South were angry and upset with the Stowe's novel because the South said that Stowe was a Northerner who knew nothing about the South
The result of the novel was 300,000 copies sell and was the best selling novel in the 19th century. People could no longer ignore the stories of mistreatment to the enslaved people.

Sectionalism
The geographical differences of the North and South were the North was industry areas. The South was agriculture and had slaves doing the work.
The new states caused the regional division because the regional worried about their own issues and the South wanted to move slavery to the new areas and the growing of enslaved people.

Industry V/S Agriculture
Northern Workforce
The North was factors and they hired immigration's to work. Also the north couldn't really farm because the soil was hard and was not so good for farming.
Southern workforce
The southern workforce was primarily relying on slaves and the selling of cotton to keep them afloat and none of the government really cared for the slaves that were working for them. They also made money through selling slaves in the form of slave trade
Climate
The warmer climates in the south provided great growing conditions for tobacco, cotton, and other cash crops.
